A great product and excellent support
I received the kit to assemble a couple of weeks ago and I started soldering right away. After about 3 hours of work, connected the board to PC with the supplied USB - Serial cable and .... nothing. I've contacted support right away and they were very responsive and help me diagnose the issue. Eventually we concluded that the AVR has, somehow, lost it's content and the support sent me a replacement AVR that worked out of the box. In the meantime I was able to burn the bootloader to the original AVR as well, using the ICP port and a Pololu USB AVR programmer.
It is a great product for anyone interested to learn more about the basics of CPU's, memory and early operating systems. I am particularly interested in CP/M and Collapse OS so the fun is just starting.
Very good delivery, the kit arrived in 6 days in Romania. Excellent packaging, with great attention to antistatic measures for the IC's. Assembly requires a little bit of attention, there is no assembly manual, but the schematic and BOM are really helpful.
Big thumb up for support and for the patience of Mr. Giovanni. Thank you very much!
Great product.
I'm a bit late with my review, i bought this kit last year in march, it was well packaged and only the postage service has been slow.
The kit worked directly after putting it together and I start to explore the things I've read on hackaday.io. I still enjoy the kit and there is left a lot of room for making improvements and a great support also on FB. Last week I ordered my v20-MBC and I'm looking forward to get back in time where I first start working with programming computers with CB86 with DM86 and AM86.
Very good kit
The kit was delivered very fast. The printed Docu is helpful. I'm not good in soldering, but it is very easy and I made it in 2 Hours. It is very simple to use cause ATmega is programmed and so it is ready to use after Building the kit.
Great kit, fast shipping and a wonderful computer
Kit came very fast and went together quite easily in about 1 1/2 hours. Plugged it in and worked in one go. Very happy with it.
Z80-MBC Kit - Computing back in the day before DOS
This kit can be built and up and running CP/M OS in several hours from start to finish. This kit brings back the days of the mighty Z80 CPU when it ruled the digital age. My thanks to Mc John S.r.l. for putting this kit together, Excellent work !. Everything included and with basic soldering skills you can have a nice vintage CP/M computing system up and running. The software he put on the micro SD card are a great start to getting into the CP/M world ! He even included a Word Star 4.0 word processor, PASCAL, FORTH, BASIC and a ton of other CP/M software !!! I give this kit a 10 out of 10 rating.
